Introducing Essembi's On-Demand Report Builder - a new reporting tool that lets you generate custom reports without having to build a view. It is perfect for a quick analysis or exploring your data without committing to a permanent view configuration.
To access the on-demand report builder, navigate in left hand Essembi menu to "Run Report". Then the builder will help you craft the report you need:
- Select Your Data Source - Choose from pre-defined report engines, tables, and data models.
- Configure Fields - Pick exactly which fields you want to see on the report and sort the fields accordingly.
- Apply Filters - Narrow down your data set as needed.
Admins can enable this capability per team through the new "Run Adhoc Reports" permission in team settings via Settings > Teams.
Essembi remains committed to building great native reporting features with dynamic view options, drill downs, and customization tools to give all your manufacturing teams the flexibility to view KPIs the way they want.

Drop Down Field Customization
Drop down fields now have powerful new formatting options that give you linked-table-level control with the simple setup and management of drop down fields.
Essembi enables all tables to be edited within the platform. This enables teams to create their own fields to capture key data elements. Drop downs are a way to provide users with a set of pre-defined options to select from. Now, administrators have some more advanced options to help format the drop down:
- Custom Sort Options - New "Sort Alphabetically" checkbox gives you control over the sort within the field. When selected, the drop down options will be sorted alphabetically. When un-selected, a sort column appears to let teams define a custom order for fields like workflow or status.
- Color Coding - Add visual distinction to dropdown values with color options, working just like record dropdown colors to help users quickly identify status, priority, or category at a glance.
To setup new fields or managing existing tables, navigate to Settings > Tables.
New Event Hooks for Advanced Customizations
- All form input fields now support "On Change" events. This feature enables teams to write custom JavaScript logic using Essembi's scripting engine to manage key data within the form. For example, when a user modifies a specific field, the system can automatically update related data, trigger specific calculations, or setup cascading actions.
- Sub-table sheets now have "On Create" record events. This enables administrators to setup logic using Essembi's scripting engine to pre-populate new records created in the sheet view with default values or inherit data from parent records as soon as users start creating them.
These options can all be configured by updating form layouts via Settings > Form Layouts. All forms within Essembi can be customized by teams to fit their specific use cases giving teams a powerful tool to support your growth and tightly control your data input processes.

Barcode Search Supports Multiple Records in Data Set
When scanning a barcode that has multiple matches in the view, Essembi now presents an intelligent selection dialog to let the user select the correct record to view or modify with a single click.
This is particularly handy for teams that utilize a multi-line job setup when the bulk and packaged parts have the same job number. Now when the user scans the batch ticket to find the correct job, they will be presented with an option to select the right part number to manage the production process.
